
Reading Smokes Harrisburg with Nine-Run Ninth

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils went off on the Harrisburg Senators for a 13-2 victory for their fourth consecutive win. The R-Phils put up a nine-run ninth inning, their largest run scoring inning, and game, of the season. The team hit four home runs including back-to-back long balls by Aldrem Corredor and Madison Stokes in the fourth and two three-run blasts thanks to Wendell Rijo and McCarthy Tatum in the ninth. Tatum and Vito Friscia both had two-hit innings in the final frame. Everyone in the starting nine reached successfully. Noah Skirrow notched his fifth win of the season going five strong.
Reading started the scoring in the second putting up two on Harrisburg's error. Corredor and Tatum crossed the plate when Jonathan Guzman's batted ball was dropped by the left fielder.
Harrisburg put one on in the bottom half as Justin Connell tripled to score Daniel Johnson.
Reading's back-to-back solo shots from Corredor and Stokes, in his first game off the Injured List, made it 4-1 R-Phils.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Senators batted in Gilbert Lara for their second and final run of the game.
The Fightins turned a tight ballgame into an offensive feast as they plated nine runs in the ninth. Tatum doubled to reach and came home on Friscia's single. Guzman walked to reach and Johan Rojas laid down a sacrifice bunt. An errant throw from Harrisburg's pitcher drove in Guzman. Kevin Vicuna ran out a an infield single to put runners on the corners. Wendell Rijo unloaded for a three-run homer deep to left center. Jhailyn Ortiz doubled and Corredor took a walk down to first. Tatum smoked a ball out of the park for his second hit, and the second three-run home run, of the frame. Friscia also recorded his second base knock of the inning, a double. Reading put up nine runs on seven hits and an error to take a 13-2 victory.
Noah Skirrow got the start and was awarded the win throwing five strong inning. The righty let up just one run on five hits.
Taylor Lehman pitched a clean frame, striking out two.
Trevor Bettencourt took the seventh letting up two hits and one run, albeit unearned.
Mike Adams allowed a hit but sat down the next three batters.
Adam Leverett slammed the door shut with a 1-2-3 ninth.
