Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - Coming out of the past two weeks of RDA tryouts, the club is extremely encouraged by the number of players who participated, as well as the quality demonstrated on the field. All players came in with the right attitude and showed that they are interested in a future with the Riverhounds Development Academy!
Our Club has pushed forward in tallying player ratings for all involved in the tryout process. From those results, we are in a position to immediately offer spots to players who scored above a standard rating for each age group.
Based upon the early timing of our tryout sessions, and the impossible feat of making all soccer families in Western Pennsylvania aware of these tryouts, we have been inundated with recent requests from players who were unable to participate in the opening two rounds and/or invitational. While we understand that these players failed to attend the originally scheduled tryouts, we are sensitive to the fact that our Clubs' efforts must be to evaluate all interested players.
In this way, we have made the decision to add one additional tryout session for certain age groups. This session will include invited players from the invitational rounds as well as new players, who have not yet attended a tryout. This will provide the opportunity to assess returning players one additional time, which is very helpful for our staff in making decisions on players who had inconsistent ratings. We are offering the following dates at Highmark Stadium:
Tuesday May 31st @ Highmark Stadium
5:00pm - 6:15pm - 2005/2004 Boys
6:15pm - 7:30pm - 2002/2001 Boys
Wednesday June 1st @ Highmark Stadium
5:00pm - 6:15pm - 2005/2004 Girls
6:15pm - 7:30pm - 2003 Boys / 2003 Girls
7:30pm - 8:45pm - 2002/2001 Girls
If you have questions, please contact Scott Gibson at sgibson@riverhounds.com
If you are unable to attend the additional tryout date, please know that this does not mean your child will not be invited into the RDA program. We have a scoring system that measured performance over 2-3 prior experiences with your child, and this would simply offer one additional opportunity. Consistency is a key ingredient in building a quality player and we are hoping to use this session accordingly.
