Rochester RazorSharks News Release

(Rochester, New York)....The Rochester RazorSharks, defending American Basketball Association champions, announced today the signing of 6'1" guard Caleb Gervin, a First Team ABA All-Star last season with the Bellingham Slam. Gervin will report to the RazorSharks training camp in mid-October in preparation for the regular season opener in November.

Gervin, who is the nephew of former ABA great and NBA Top 50 of All Time player George "Iceman" Gervin and former NBA player Derrick Gervin, brings his great basketball lineage to Rochester after averaging 42 points per game in three ABA playoff games last season, including 47 points against the San Jose Skyrockets in a losing effort in the quarter-finals of The Great Eight playoff tournament at The Blue Cross Arena last March.

"Caleb is a lights-out shooter and slasher who can play both shooting guard and point guard" said RazorSharks Head Coach Rod Baker. "As he becomes more comfortable with our team concept, this young player has a bright, bright future in professional basketball. We are excited to sign him and have him in a RazorSharks uniform for the upcoming season." The native of Southern California started all 27 games for Bellingham last season, leading the team in scoring (25.1 points per game), minutes played and assists (4.0 per game). He played in the ABA All-Star Game in Miami last February for the West Team. Gervin played in the prestigious Summer Pro-Am League this past July in Long Beach, California.

Recruited out of Cathedral City High School in California, Gervin played a year at Louisville before transferring to Azusa Pacific University near Los Angeles, California, where he was named First Team NAIA All American, the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year and NAIA All Tournament Team in 2002-2003.

Turning professional after his college career, Gervin played for TSV Noerdlingen in Germany during the 2004-2005 season and for Bellingham in the ABA last year. The 25 year-old Gervin makes his off-season home in Palm Springs, California and was a sociology major at Azusa Pacific University.
