Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

The Corpus Christi IceRays started divisional play this past weekend as they traveled north to Wichita Falls to take on the Wildcats for a pair of road games on Friday and Saturday night inside the Kay Yeager Coliseum. In both games, the IceRays needed to complete comebacks to force overtime.

GAME #5 - 09-21-12: Corpus Christi 3-4 (SO) Wichita Falls - On Friday, the IceRays once again needed to erase a multi-goal deficit. After trailing 3-0 in the second period, Travis Maxwell put the IceRays on the scoresheet with 23 seconds to go in the period. To start the third, Ian McGilvrey picked up a power-play goal 1:32 into the final period assisted by John Roisum and Rudy Sulmonte. Just 53 ticks later, Jalen Schulz picked up his first NAHL goal to tie the game and force overtime. Then, in a shootout the IceRays failed to score, and the Wildcats converted on their final attempt to get the extra point and the win 4-3.

GAME #6 - 09-13-12: Corpus Christi 2-3 (SO) Wichita Falls - On Saturday, a similar scenario evolved as in the second period Corpus Christi trailed 1-0. Then, Andrew Paras took an off angle shot that was stopped with the right leg pad of Evan Cowley. The rebound went to Jon Grebosky who notched his first goal of the season. Then, just over midway through the second, Wichita Falls regained the one goal lead on the man advantage. Just like the night before, the IceRays knotted the game up on the power-play off the stick of Phil Pietroniro. In a shootout, Corpus Christi fell 3-2 but picked up two points on the weekend.
