
Rays Lose to Johnson City

The Princeton Rays lose to the Johnson City Cardinals, 9-4, on July 26 at Hunnicutt Field. Princeton scored first with their only runs in the game in the 4th inning. Johnson City put four runs on the board in the 6th, three in the 8th, and two in the 9th. Chandler Hawkins gets the win for the Cardinals and Sasha Kuebel with the save. Andrew Woeck takes the loss for the Rays.
The Princeton Rays are first in the Appalachian League East standings, sitting at 18-13. The Cardinals, 14-16, are sitting in the middle of the Appalachian League West standings, behind the Greeneville Astros and the Kingsport Mets.
The Rays scored four in the 4th inning. Angel Perez singled to bring Brett Sullivan and Jose Rojas home. Blair Beck made it home off of a singled by Blake Butera. Perez scored from a sacrifice fly by Peter Maris. In the 6th, Johnson City put four on the board. Edmundo Sosa scored from a single by Chris Chinea. Magneuris Sierra scored off of a double by Eliezer Alvarez. Allen Staton brought Chinea home with a sacrifice fly. Alvarez scored from a wild pitch by Bryan Bonnell. The Cardinals scored three more in the 8th from a home run by Staton, bringing Chinea and Alvarez home. In the 9th, Sierra hit a home run to bring Sosa home.
