The Princeton Rays knock off the Bluefield Blue Jays, 7-6, at Hunnicutt Field on July 27. The Blue Jays scored first with two runs in the 2nd inning, two runs in the 4th, one run in the 6th, and one in the 9th. The Rays scored three in the 4th, two in the 5th, and two in the 8th. Alberto Casanas gets the win for the Rays and Armando Bastardo gets the save. Dan Lietz takes the loss for the Blue Jays.
In first place in the Appalachian League East is the Princeton Rays at 19-13. The Bluefield Blue Jays are in last place in the East at 15-18.
In the 2nd, Deiferson Barreto and Aaaron Attaway scored off of a single by Andres Sotillo. The Blue Jays scored two more in the 4th as Barreto doubled to bring Juan Tejada home. Barreto scored from a single by Attaway. The Rays brought Landon Cray, Brett Sullivan, and Blair Beck home off of a double by Kewby Meyer in the 4th. In the 5th, Bill Pujols made it home for the Rays from a single by Zac Law. Peter Maris scored from a ground out by Landon Cray. For the Blue Jays in the 6th, Christian William put a run on the board from a single by Attaway. Bill Pujols, for the Rays, singled to bring David Rodriguez and Blair Beck home in the 8th. The Blue Jays scored one run in the 9th from a home run by Attaway.
