FORT MYERS, FL (May 14, 2012) - The Florida State League announced today that Fort Myers Miracle outfielder Lance Ray has been named Player of the Week for May 7-13, 2012.
Ray notched eight hits in 19 at bats for a .421 batting average. The Las Vegas, Nevada native collected nine RBI's and scored six runs.
The 22-year old was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the eighth-round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft from the University of Kentucky. He leads the Miracle with four home runs and 24 RBI's.
The Pitcher of the week was Daytona Cubs Left-Hander Eric Jokisch. He started two games, recorded two wins, and had a 0.00 ERA. In 13 innings he allowed eight hits, gave up no walks, and struck out 16 batters. Eric is in his third year of professional baseball and was born in Virginia, Illinois.
The Miracle, winners in five of their last seven games, travel to Charlotte to take on the Stone Crabs at 6:30 p.m. tonight. The two teams continue the series at Hammond Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday.
