Visalia Rawhide News Release
BAKERSFIELD - The Rawhide snapped their brief two game skid with a 9-3 victory over the Bakersfield Blaze on Tuesday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark. Rawhide starter Rob Coe turned in a solid performance once again and the offense backed him with a flurry of longballs to keep the dream of a first have North Division title alive.
Rob Coe (W, 1-2) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up one earned run on six hits and a walk while fanning six Blaze batters. It was his first win with the Rawhide this season despite having a quality start against Rancho Cucamonga in his last outing on June 6th.
Ryan Court got the scoring started in the top of the 3rd inning with a two-run shot off Blaze starter Carlos Contreras (L, 3-6). It was Court's team-leading 8th homerun of the season in just his 34th game with the Rawhide. He finished the game 2-for-3 with two BB, three RBI and two runs scored.
California League All-Star Gerson Montilla got in on the longball action with a solo shot to right in the 7th inning, his 8th homer of the year, tying Court for the team lead. Sean Jamieson blew things open when he homered later in the inning to put the 'Hide up 7-0.
Catcher Chris McMurray hit his first homerun of the season in the 8th inning, making it the fourth Rawhide round-tripper of the game. David Nick continues to stay hot, as he would have an RBI-double later in the inning to put the perverbial nail in the coffin. He has recorded at least one hit in eight of his last nine games.
The Rawhide will wrap up the road trip on Wednesday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark before returning home to start a four-game series against the division rival San Jose Giants (SF) which will be the final act in the first half of the 2013 season. It'll be another "Thursty" Thursday brought to you by Valley Wide Beverage Co., where Coors Light and Summer Shandy draft beers will be just $1 from 6-8 pm!
