Arizona Rattlers News Release

PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers signed wide receiver Kevin McKenzie to the active roster, Head Coach Gene Nudo announced.

The sixth-year Arena Football veteran comes to Arizona after participating in training camp with the Georgia Force. McKenzie was previously with the San Jose SaberCats in 2006, the Colorado Crush in 2005-04, San Jose again in 2003 and the Florida Bobcats during the 2001 season.

"I think he's a quality return guy and a good receiver who understands the game," Nudo said. "He's had some very productive seasons recently in 2004-05 and I believe he just needs to get back into the flow with a team. I think he strengthens our receiving corps considerably with his experience."

McKenzie's most productive season came in 2004 with the Crush, when he made 85 receptions for 1,023 yards and 14 touchdowns. That same season he returned a career-high 20 kicks for 330 yards to go along with 23.5 tackles, four interceptions, five passes defensed and a net recovery for a touchdown on defense, earning All-Ironman Team honors. The following season he was a member of Colorado's ArenaBowl XIX title team.

McKenzie also brings NFL experience to Arizona, playing with the Miami Dolphins in 2000 and having attended training camp with the Detroit Lions in 2003. In addition, he was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 1998 and was allocated to NFL Europe in 2002 by the Oakland Raiders, where he recorded 10 receptions for 141 yards in seven games for the Scottish Claymores.

Born on Sept. 20, 1975 in Long Beach, Calif., the 5-foot-11, 193-pound former Washington State Cougar was a two-time Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team and L.A. Times All-South Coast Team selection.
