Arizona Rattlers News Release

PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers have scheduled their official team open tryout with registration beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Gene Autry Sports Complex, 4125 E. McKellips Road, Mesa.

In the last two seasons, eight participants in the tryouts earned a contract to participate in training camp, three of whom made it on to the active roster. In 2018, Dillion Winfrey attended two open tryouts before finally being selected to join the team. This past season, Winfrey was the team's starting defensive back, and was awarded second-team All-IFL honors. Joe Matthews, an open tryout participant from three seasons ago, ended up being featured on ESPN's SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 8:55 a.m. Participants must register to take part in the tryout.

The cost to participate is $80 (only cash or money order will be accepted, no personal checks).

Participants must provide their own cleats, shorts and accessories. The tryout is non-contact, so pads and helmets are not necessary.

Participants also must be prepared upon their arrival - no locker room facilities will be available, although restrooms will be accessible.

The coaching staff, including Head Coach Kevin Guy, will evaluate participants in the 40-yard dash, short shuttles and position drills.
