Phoenix, Ariz. - The six-time world champion Arizona Rattlers announced Oscar Hernandez as their new Sidewinders Dance Director, and Shelby Regier as the new Assistant Dance Director.
Oscar Hernandez has worked with the Arizona Rattlers for the past eight seasons as a choreographer and more recently as assistant coach.
Oscar has choreographed for teams in the NBA and NFL, and has held the role as Director with the Seattle SuperSonics and the Detroit Pistons Entertainment Teams.
Oscar became known world-wide for his cameo appearances during the Sidewinders dance routines where he was referred to as "the dancing lineman" from 2012-2015. The 2015 performance went viral with nearly 100 million views, receiving the attention of the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Soon after, the Orange County, California native competed in NBC's America's Got Talent, Season 12, advancing to the semi-finals, where the Sidewinders performed with him during the show.
"I am excited for the opportunity to grow with the Arizona Rattlers in my new role," said Hernandez. "I'm also excited to be the first male Dance Director in the Indoor Football League."
Shelby Regier was a member of the Sidewinders Dance Team for three seasons (2011-2013), performing with the Sidewinders at ArenaBowl XXII. During her three years on the team, she was named captain, participated in promotional videos and photoshoots, was nominated for the 2013 AFL Dream Team and was a contributing choreographer for the Sidewinders. Shelby has remained a part of the team as an alum, assisting in team reveal shows, youth dance clinics, and performing in the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show.
"Being a member of the Sidewinders provided me with amazing opportunities in addition to personal and professional growth," said Regier. "I am so excited to have the opportunity to help create these experiences for future Sidewinders for years to come. The program is something I am so proud to be a part of and I want to help facilitate the continued success and growth moving forward."
The Castro Valley, California native is a graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She has trained in several styles of dance including tap, jazz, ballet, contemporary and cheerleading/pom.
After leaving the Sidewinders, Shelby continued her professional dance career with the Arizona Cardinals Cheerleaders where she had the privilege of cheering for three seasons. As a member of the Cardinals Cheerleaders, she assisted with their junior cheer program, and traveled overseas as a representative and a part of game day entertainment for the Cardinal's London game.
