Phoenix, Ariz. - The world champion Arizona Rattlers have been assigned wide receiver Chris Summers for the 2015 Arena Football League (AFL) season. This will be Summers first season in the AFL.

Summers was acquired through a trade with the Jacksonville Sharks in exchange for future considerations. Summers was assigned to Jacksonville in September 2014.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Summers competed in training camp for the National Football League's (NFL) Buffalo Bills during the 2014 season. He also spent the 2013 season with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings on their practice squad. Summers was signed by the NFL's Chicago Bears in 2012 as an undrafted free agent, but was released at the end of training camp.

Summers attended Liberty University, where in 2010 he established new school records with 1,081 receiving yards and 15 touchdown catches which earned him a Big South first-team all-conference selection, and was elected team captain for his senior season in 2011. Summers also earned a Big South second-team all-conference selection in 2009.

The Jacksonville native played quarterback and wide receiver at Ribault High School, where he caught 49 passes for 670 yards and 8 touchdowns his senior year.

The Arizona Rattlers (1-1) will travel to Cleveland to take on the Gladiators (2-0) this Saturday, April 11th at 4:00 p.m. at the Quicken Loans Arena. This will be the first time the Rattlers will face the Gladiators since Arizona's 72-32 victory at ArenaBowl XXVII. For additional information please visit www.azrattlers.com.
