Rascals Offense Explodes

River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, Mo - The River City offense took a 3-0 lead into a one hour and 50 minute rain delay and finished the night with 15 hits, scoring 12 runs en-route to a 12-5 win over Rockford in front of 3,401.

The Rascals (2-1) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning as rookie Curran Redal poked a single to right for his first hit as professional that was followed by an RBI groundout from Matt Serna. The lead was stretched to 3-0 in the fourth before a rain delay halted play with runners at second and third with two outs and Charlie Lisk at the plate with an 0-2 count.

Lisk would hit a slow roller to shortstop that drew and errant throw allowing two runs to score, and the rout was on. Four runs crossed the plate in the frame and River City added four more in the fifth on three hits before adding a final run in the seventh.

Rockford (1-2) plated a run in the fifth and four in the ninth for the final score of 12-5.

After a day off Monday, the Rascals return to action Tuesday night when the London Rippers visit for a three-game series that starts at 7:05.
