SAUGET, IL--The River City Rascals dropped the series finale to the Gateway Grizzlies on Thursday night at GCS Park, losing by a final score of 9-4. The Grizzlies recorded 17 hits, and were led offensively by Trae Santos, who had four hits including a two-run home run, and drove in three runs total. The Grizzlies got the scoring started with an RBI single from Santos in the first inning. The Rascals countered with a two-run double from Dylan Woods in the top of the second, his first hit with the team. It was all Grizzlies from there, as they scored eight unanswered runs to take a 9-2 lead.
Santos homered in the third, driving in two, and Terry McClure doubled in two in the fourth. In the fifth, the Grizzlies scored again on a Rascals error, which was followed by a Brennan Morgan RBI single in the sixth and a Brent Sakurai sacrifice fly and Blake Brown RBI single in the seventh.
The Rascals did add two runs in the ninth, on a Kevin Suarez fielder's choice groundout and a Clint Freeman RBI double, extending his hitting streak to seven games.
