River City Rascals News Release

Normal, Ill. - River City fell behind 7-0 after two innings and their offense was held in check with just five hits on the night, all singles, as the CornBelters even the series with a 7-2 win.

Rascal starter Liam Ohlmann (0-3) last just 1 1/3 innings against his former team, allowing a two-run homerun to the second batter in the first inning. Normal (25-52) exploded for five more runs in the second inning as Ohlmann allowed four hits including two doubles before Keli'i Zablan gave up the second homerun of the night to Pat McKenna that capped the CornBelter scoring at seven runs.

The Rascals (36-41) did not crack the scoring column until the seventh inning. Curran Redal reached second base on a two-out throwing error before Zach Deutscher lined a single up the middle for the RBI and hustled to second on the throw home. That effort set up the second run. Jeremy Synan lined a hit to right that scored Deutscher who crossed the plate a fraction of a second before Synan was thrown out trying to stretch the hit to a double.

River City was held hitless the rest of the way by Mitch Mormann as the CornBelters assured themselves a shot at winning the series in the rubber game that starts at 5:00 on Sunday. Tony Marsala (4-6, 3.48) will take the mound for River City against Normal veteran Tyler Lavigne (4-7, 4.73).
