
"Rapids Week 2010" Schedule Of Events Announced

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, March 25, 2010) - The Colorado Rapids today announced their "Rapids Week 2010" schedule, the club's annual tradition of a series of daily public events leading up to the team's first home match of the season at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, which this year takes place Saturday, April 3 against the Chicago Fire at 2:00 p.m. MT. The events of Rapids Week 2010 will expand into a "super-week" of 10 total days, designed to celebrate the launch of the Rapids' 15th season as the Rapids organization, including players, coaches, staff and mascots, as well as the club's fans, participate in public events every day of the week in an effort to build excitement leading up to Opening Day.
Thursday, March 25: ColoradoRapids.com Re-Launch
The Colorado Rapids are set to unveil a complete re-launch of the club's new online home, which will transform from a traditional website into a brand new interactive digital ecosystem. The new site will feature in-depth video features and full interactivity, with fans being able to interact with other fans, post comments on news stories, and share photos and video.
Friday, March 26, 8:30 p.m.: Official Away Game Viewing Party
The Official Rapids Away Game Viewing Party for the club's first league match of 2010 at Chivas USA will be held at The British Bulldog, located at the intersection of Stout Street & Broadway in Denver. The viewing party is free and open to fans of all ages to attend, so wear your Rapids jersey and come join other fans to watch the game live in a great soccer atmosphere.
Saturday, March 27, 12:00 p.m.: Rapids adidas Jabulani Hunt Kicks Off
It's a weeklong city-wide scavenger hunt, as the Rapids hide adidas Jabulani Rapids soccer balls in secret locations around the Denver metro area. Fans will be given clues to the balls' locations through the Rapids' social media sites as to where to find them. Fans who discover the balls will not only get to keep their Jabulani but also find a note attached with a secret code to be able to redeem online for the chance to win tickets to Opening Day and have their ball signed by the Man of the Match down on the field.
Monday, March 29: Live Facebook Chat
The Rapids will host a special online chat with the Man of the Match from this Friday's game at Chivas USA on Monday. Visit the Rapids' Official Facebook Page for full details and to find out the time and player for Monday's online chat.
Tuesday, March 30, 3-4 p.m.: Rapids Team Hospital Visit
Rapids players and coaches will continue their annual tradition of visiting kids in the hospital, this year at HealthONE's Spalding Rehab Center. The players and mascots will visit with patients; sign autographs, and pose for photos. This event is closed to the general public.
Wednesday, March 31, 4-7 p.m.: Rapids "Burgundy Bash"
In a special private event by invitation only, select Rapids VIPs will be invited to attend this exclusive event at The Oak Tavern in Lodo. Food and drink will be provided and the Rapids will unveil the first-ever Rapids jersey specifically manufactured for the club's female fans, as modeled by Donna Baldwin Talent.
Thursday,April 1, 4:30-6 p.m.: Rapids Youth Teams Mall Blitz
Work downtown? Be on the lookout onThursday afternoon as the Rapids Youth Teams will completely take over Denver's 16th St. Mall just as the afternoon rush hour hits. The Rapids youth team players will be in full uniform, handing out exclusive coupons good for ticket and camp discounts. Stop by and visit with the future stars of the Rapids first team.
Friday, April 2, 10 a.m.: Rapids Team Photo Day
Media members are invited to come to Dick's Sporting Goods Park as the Rapids practice inside the stadium on their match pitch for the first time in 2010. Prior to the team's training session, the Rapids will take their Official Team Photo for this year, and media members are offered this exclusive behind-the-scenes photo opportunity. Players and coaches will also be available after the Team Photo and Training Session for one-on-one interviews and photos. This event is closed to the general public.
Saturday, April 3, 2:00 p.m.: Rapids' 2010 Home Opener
The Colorado Rapids kick off their 15th season at home vs. the Chicago Fire in the club's first home game of 2010. The Rapids are 3-0-0 all-time in home openers at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, and will look to continue their winning tradition on Opening Day.
