Rapids to Face Air Force on Saturday

The Colorado Rapids will travel to Colorado Springs on Saturday for an exhibition match against the United Sates Air Force Academy Men's Soccer Team this Saturday, April 19th. Kickoff is at 7:00 PM MT at Cadet Soccer Stadium on the Air Force Campus. This game will be have the distinction of being the first ever played under the newly-installed stadium lights at Cadet Stadium. This will be the eighth annual match played between the 2 teams.
Despite heightened security at the Air Force Academy, the base will be open to spectators for this event. All fans must enter the Academy through the North Gate entrance (exit 156B off of Interstate 25) and proceed directly to the Cadet Soccer Stadium. Fans should have their photo identification ready to present when approaching the guard post.
Both teams last met for this exhibition match, which is becoming a local tradition in the Springs area, on April 30th, 2002, when the Rapids defeated the Falcons 4-0 with goals by current Rapids players Kyle Beckerman, John Spencer and Chris Carrieri. The Rapids lead the exhibition series against the Falcons 6-0-1.
Tickets for the Air Force exhibition match can be purchased at Cadet Soccer Stadium on Saturday. Prices are $5 for Adults, $2 for kids, and the first 200 kids who show up in soccer uniforms will get free admission! Prior to the men's game, the Air Force women's soccer team will play the University of Denver, beginning at 5 p.m. and one ticket gets you access to both games.
