Colorado will open the 2014 season with road matches at San Jose and New York before returning home on March 22 for the home opener. Following with Rapids tradition, the club will again host a match on July 4, this time facing the Columbus Crew during the annual 4th Fest Celebration, which features one of the state's largest fireworks displays, in addition to other special events. After recapturing the Rocky Mountain Cup in 2013, Colorado will look to defend it in the August 2 grudge match against Real Salt Lake, the only home match for the Rapids in the three-game series.
Colorado will play a total of 34 matches against Major League Soccer's other 18 clubs, with 17 at home and 17 on the road. The Rapids will face each Western Conference club three times and Eastern Conference opponents once during the regular season. A total of eight Rapids matches will be broadcast on national television in the United States, with five on the NBC Sports Network, and four on UnivisiÃÆ"n networks (either UnivisiÃÆ"n Deportes or UniMÃÆás). There will also be a two-week break in the schedule in June during the group stage of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Rapids will open preseason camp in late January of 2014, and have already scheduled a series of exhibition matches as part of the Desert Diamond Cup in Tucson, Ariz . For more information on the club, or to purchase 2014 season tickets, visit www.ColoradoRapids.com or call 303-825-GOAL.
