COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, March 28, 2011) - Coming off back to back wins of the 2011 season, the Colorado Rapids will play two matches this week beginning on Wednesday, March 30 against the Chicago Fire in a U.S. Open Cup play-in match which will be played at Bradley University in Peoria, Ill. (5:30 pm MT). The team then returns home to host D.C. United in a regular season contest on Sunday, April 3 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (5 pm MT).
After defeating the Portland Timbers in the home opener 3-1, the Rapids ousted Chivas USA 1-0 on the road on Saturday to mark the first time the team has won the first two games of season. A win on Wednesday versus Chicago will put the Rapids one step closer to qualifying for the U.S. Open Cup for the first time since 2007.
