Rapids Midfielder Jeff Larentowicz Called up to U.S. National Team

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Thursday, December 22, 2011) - Colorado Rapids midfielder and 2011 Team MVP Jeff Larentowicz has been named to the 20-man roster by U.S. Men s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the team s upcoming training camp and friendlies. The United States first hosts Venezuela on Jan. 21, 2012 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., and four days later faces Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City.

Larentowicz will report to Phoenix, Ariz., with fellow players and staff on Jan. 3 to begin training. The team will move to U.S. Soccer s National Training Center at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., to continue training from Jan. 13-20, and then return to Arizona to finalize preparations for Venezuela.

Larentowicz was last called up to the U.S. National Team for the friendlies against Honduras and Ecuador on October 8 and 11, where he was an unused sub in the first match but was not on the gameday roster for the second. The midfielder has earned two career caps with the National Team with his most recent appearance in the USA s 1-0 loss to Belgium in Brussels on Sept. 2. He was first called up to the National Team for last year s January Training Camp.
