Rapids lose a tough one to Strong Island

Buffalo Silverbacks News Release
Amherst, NY. The ABA Buffalo Rapids lost against the Strong Island Sound for the third time in a row. However, fans say the final score should not have been 101-102. Once again, it was a close game against the Long Island-based team. Although the Rapids led the game for the first three quarters, the Sound took control late in the fourth winning their fifth in a row. DeRon Rutledge had 31 points, Tim Winn collected 19 and Johnny Tyson had 14. For Long Island, Chris Sandy led his team with 20.
The game ended under unusual circumstances. Many upset fans agreed that one of Tim Winn's free throw points had been given to the opposing team. The slip was thought to have been corrected, as the referees gave back the point to the Rapids. However, some spectators complained. Among one of them, James Deal, a season ticket holder, asserted that the extra point was not deducted from the Strong Island Sound's score. That said, the UB fans were once again contributing to the cheering of the crowd, encouraging the fast-improving Rapids as they head towards the playoffs in March.
The Rapids will be visiting their next two opponents on the road, facing the Boston Frenzy on Sat, Feb 25 followed by the Harlem Strong Dogs on Sat, Mar 4. The final home game will be held on Sun, Mar 5 when Buffalo will be playing the Newark Express. For more information, visit www.buffalorapids.com or www.abalive.com.
