Rapids announce second annual soccer academy and camps for 2006

DENVER, CO (Monday, September 26, 2005)- The Colorado Rapids announced today their 2006 dates for the team's official Camps and Soccer Academy. The Black and Blue will host a Fitness Camp, Soccer Academy, Goalkeeper Camp, Development Camp and Kickin' Kids Camp. Players for the Soccer Academy and developmental players may be invited to the fall 2006 or Spring 2007 Colorado Rapids Summit. Assistant coach John Murphy will be the Rapids Academy Director for the second year in a row.

"All participants and their families will experience first-hand the quality individuals that play for and coach the Colorado Rapids at every session. The training curriculum and small training groups has been created to focus on developing skillful, confident players that can make a difference for their team in a match. Join us at the Rapids Camps or the Soccer Academy and you will not be disappointed," Murphy said

The camps will run throughout the summer with the dates being scheduled around Rapids games (dates are subject to change). Participants will receive a camp t-shirt and water bottle, as well as a private viewing of a Rapids training session followed by an autograph session by the entire Rapids team. Graduation for each camp will be held at a Rapids game next season, with each graduate receiving two free tickets to that game.

"I have seen first-hand how the Rapids Soccer Academy can make a positive impact on all who participate, and feel it is an excellent program for players to develop and have fun. I can speak for our players in saying how much we enjoy working with the kids and helping them improve," said Luchi Gonzalez, Rapids forward and winner of the 2001 Herman Trophy as the nation's top collegiate soccer player.
