COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, July 15, 2009) - In their first international friendly of the year, the Colorado Rapids played to a 0-0 draw with legendary Mexican League side Club América at Dick's Sporting Goods Park Wednesday night.
Colorado goalkeeper Preston Burpo turned in a stellar effort coming up with three saves on the night to preserve the clean sheet for the Rapids and keep Club América scoreless in two games versus MLS clubs during their current preseason tour.
Club América played a man down for over 60 minutes after Ricardo Rojas received a red card ejection for his tackle on Cory Gibbs in the first half.
Tonight's match also featured the debut of Julien Baudet for the Rapids, as the French defender played 57 minutes.
The Rapids return to MLS action this Saturday, July 18 when they travel to RFK Stadium to take on D.C. United at 6 pm MT.
