'MLS Backstage' Music Segment to Debut on MLSnet.com

NEW YORK (July 15, 2009) - Major League Soccer today announced the creation of MLS Backstage, an original online segment where music, entertainment and sports intersect. It will be featured on the League's official website, www.MLSnet.com. The inaugural episode of MLS Backstage featuring part one of an interview with four-time Grammy Award-winning reggae artist Ziggy Marley will debut today. Part two will air next week.

The monthly segment will consist of exclusive one-on-one interviews with celebrities from the worlds of music, movies, television and comedy. The interviews promise to highlight the diversity of soccer's international fan base.

"There are so many artists who participate in the global soccer culture," said Geoffrey Hayes, vice president of special events for MLS. "MLS Backstage will provide those artists a platform to express their love of the game, while providing our fans exclusive content. We are excited to kick off MLS Backstage with an interview with Ziggy Marley who is a supporter of soccer in this country."
