Rangers Take 5-2 Win Over Spitfires

The Kitchener Rangers claimed a 5-2 win over the Windsor Spitfires before a crowd of 6,849 at The Aud.

Jeff Skinner backhanded his own rebound at 12:22 on a Kitchener power play to score the lone goal of the first period and put the Rangers up 1-0. Windsor outshot the Rangers 16-12 in the period.

34-seconds in to the second period, Chris MacKinnon increased Kitchener's lead 2-0 after his shot bounced in off Windsor netminder Philipp Grubauer's stick. Jason Akeson followed up with a power play goal that went high to the glove side of Grubauer at 2:58 to make it 3-0 Rangers. Adam Henrique solved Rangers goalie Brandon Maxwell at 13:22 to get within two goals of Kitchener (3-1).

Taylor Hall continued his scoring ways for Windsor and netted his 10th of the playoffs at 1:24 of the third period to make it a one-goal game. Andrew Crescenzi restored the Rangers two-goal lead with just over 8-minutes left in the game, making it 4-2. Skinner closed out scoring in the game with his 16th of the playoffs to give the Rangers a 5-2 win.

The Rangers travel to Windsor tomorrow for game three of the Western Conference Finals at 7:05pm. They return to The Aud on Tuesday, April 20th for game four at 7:00pm.
