
Rangers Select Tatar in 09 Import Draft

The Kitchener Rangers Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott announced this morning that the team has selected Slovakian left-winger Tomas Tatar (Tah-tar) with the 6th overall selection in the 2009 CHL Import Draft.
A native of Trencin, Slovakia Tatar played 48 games last season with HKM Zvolen in the Slovak Extraliga registering 7 goals and 15 points. He also played for Slovakia at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships where he led the team in scoring with 11 points including 7 goals. His 11 points placed him fifth in overall scoring.
This past weekend Tatar was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round, 60th overall at the 2009 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
Scouts describe Tatar as a high energy, skilled, offensive player that is willing to play in traffic and pay the price. He loves to score and scores big, important goals.
