Rangers Re-Sign Defenseman Bryce Lampman

New York, July 18, 2006 -- New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Bryce Lampman.
Lampman, 23, skated in 11 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, registering two goals and three assists, along with 16 penalty minutes. On November 20 at Portland (AHL), he sustained a dislocated left shoulder and was forced to miss the remainder of the season. Prior to the injury, he appeared in one game with the Rangers on October 10 at Washington.
In 2004-05, Lampman appeared in 74 games with Hartford (AHL), collecting seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points, along with 74 penalty minutes. He ranked first on the team with a plus-19 rating, led all Wolf Pack defensemen in goals and was second among team defensemen in assists and points.
The 6-1, 200-pounder made his Rangers/NHL debut on March 9, 2004 at Atlanta and skated in a total of eight games with the Rangers during the 2003-04 season. Before being called up by the Rangers, Lampman spent the majority of the 2003-04 campaign in Hartford, appearing in 68 games with the Pack, notching four goals and 11 assists, along with 50 penalty minutes. His 15 points ranked third among team defensemen. In the post-season, he helped Hartford reach the 2004 AHL Eastern Conference Finals, recording one goal and three assists in 16 post-season contests. In 198 career AHL games with the Wolf Pack, Lampman totaled 13 goals and 38 assists for 51 points, along with 172 penalty minutes.
Before signing a professional contract with the Rangers, Lampman appeared in 29 games with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) during the 2002-03 season, registering one goal and 17 assists for 18 points, along with 34 penalty minutes. He ranked sixth on the team, second among Kamloops rookies and 11th among WHL rookies in scoring with 18 points. Lampman also ranked third on the club with 17 assists. He played his first season in the WHL after attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) for the 2001-02 season. In 26 games with Nebraska-Omaha, Lampman collected four assists and 28 penalty minutes. He tied for third on the team in scoring among defensemen with four points and was tied for second with four assists.
Prior to his collegiate career, Lampman appeared in 129 career games with the Rochester Mustangs and the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL), registering 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points, along with 162 penalty minutes. In 2000-01, he captained the Lancers to the USHL championship and appeared in the 2001 USHL All-Star Game.
The Rochester, Minnesota native was the Rangers fourth round selection, 113th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
