Rangers and Generals Complete Trade
January 8, 2020 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release
The Kitchener Rangers have traded forward Ryan Stepien, two second-round picks (2021 & 2022) and two third-round picks (2022 & 2024) to the Oshawa Generals.
In exchange, the Rangers will receive right winger Serron Noel (FLA '18).
Originally a third-round pick of the Saginaw Spirit in 2017, Stepien recorded 13 goals and 21 assists in 76 regular season games with Kitchener after being acquired in a trade with the Spirit in December 2018.
"We would like to thank Ryan for his contributions to the Rangers on and off the ice," Interim Head Coach and General Manager Mike McKenzie said.
"He was a pleasure to be around every day at the rink and will surely be missed by teammates and staff."
Noel is a 6'6", 216 lb forward who has totaled 184 points (83 goals, 101 assists) in 221 career OHL games.
The 19 year-old Ottawa native was drafted by Florida in the second round (34th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft and has recorded 13 goals and 19 assists in 28 games this season.
"We're extremely excited to welcome Serron to the Rangers family. He will fit in well with our already strong group of forward," McKenzie said.
"With his size, speed, and scoring ability, he can be a force and we look forward to seeing him in a Rangers uniform for the rest of the season."
