Idaho Stampede News Release
BOISE, Idaho, May 5, 2011 - The Idaho Stampede have agreed to terms with Head Coach Randy Livingston for a one-year contract extension for the 2011-12 season, the organization announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.
Livingston begins his second year as head coach after leading the Stampede to a 24-26 record last season. The Stampede's all-time leader in points, games, assists and steals helped the team finish the season on a 22-13 run.
"I'm thrilled to re-sign with the Idaho Stampede," Livingston said. "The Treasure Valley is a second home to me and I'm ready to get the season rolling after missing the playoffs last year. This is a first class organization and I expect us to be playing in the postseason next year."
Livingston is the team's eighth coach in franchise history, and fifth to take the helm for more than one year, the first since Bryan Gates was the Stampede leader from 2006-2009.
"I am very pleased that Coach Livingston will be returning to the Idaho Stampede for another year," Managing Investor Bill Ilett said. "Coach and I both feel that we have unfinished business on the basketball court. I look forward to him starting next season and leading the Idaho Stampede to the 2012 playoffs."
The 2010-11 season featured two NBA assignments sent to the team from the Portland Trail Blazers, Luke Babbitt and Armon Johnson, and the signing of three-time NBA All-Star Antoine Walker.
"Coach Livingston's contract extension is exciting news for fans in the Treasure Valley," Stampede President and General Manager Steve Brandes said. "We look forward to him continuing the momentum of the last 35 games from last season. We are confident he will build a strong team that fans will enjoy watching this year."
