Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Los Temblores demolished Inland Empire for a second straight game, blowing the game open in the middle innings and cruising to a 14-1 series clincher on Sunday afternoon at LoanMart Field.
The 66ers pitching staff collapsed with nine more walks issued on Sunday and Rancho capitalized on free baserunners with 12 hits on the day.
Leading 1-0 in the fourth, Donovan Casey and Omar Estevez struck for a pair of doubles, apart of a six run frame. Los Temblores tacked on five more runs in the fifth, walking with the bases loaded three times to pull ahead 12-0.
Jeren Kendall popped a home run in the sixth and Cody Thomas capped the scoring in the eighth with and RBI-single. Kendall's home run was the 200th on the season by the Quakes offense, the first time touching the mark in franchise history.
Estevez finished the game 2-for-6 and extended his hitting streak to a league-best 24 games.
Max Gamboa (4-2) tossed five complete innings and struck out seven for the win, while Travis Herrin (0-2) was saddled with the loss after departing the game with a 1-0 deficit in the third.
Rancho will look for the series sweep over Inland Empire on Monday in the final game of the regular season. The Quakes' starting pitcher has yet to be named, while Inland Empire will send Michael Santos (0-1) to the mound. First pitch is at a special Labor Day start time of 2:05 PM.
