Rampage's Raybon & Wylie Lost for Season

April 15, 2003 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Grand Rapids Rampage News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League announced today that linemen Israel Raybon and Joe Wylie, one of four team captains, will miss the remainder of the season due to injury.

Raybon (6-5, 305, North Alabama), an All-Rookie Team selection in 2002, suffered a broken fibula and severe ankle sprain in last week's 69-21 victory over Las Vegas. The former Division II standout was hampered with nagging injuries for most of the season, but managed a team-leading three sacks and four tackles for loss in seven games.

Wylie (6-3, 332, Stephen F. Austin), a mainstay on the Rampage line for the past four seasons, suffered his season-ending injury (back - bulging disc) a little over a month ago against the Georgia Force. He was scheduled to return this season, but team doctors recommended that he sit out the remainder of the season to prevent further damage to his back. In six games this season, the former Lumberjack posted four tackles and his first career sack.

Minus the services of Raybon and Wylie, the Rampage (8-3) wrap-up a two-game home stand against the Arizona Rattlers (6-5), last year's ArenaBowl runner-up, this Saturday night at Van Andel Arena. Less than 500 tickets remain for the 7:30 p.m. contest. Tickets can be purchased at The Zone, located on the west side of Van Andel Arena, and through Tickets PLUS at (616) 222-4000 or (800) 585-3737. Tickets are also available at all West Michigan Meijer locations, and on-line at www.tickets.com and the Rampage Web site.
