Rampage's Harris named AFL Defensive Player of the Week

The Arena Footbal League has named Grand Rapids Rampage defensive specialist Johnnie Harris as the AFL's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3. Harris set a career-high with 10.0 tackles while intercepting a pass and breaking up two more in the Rampage's stunning 25-point victory over the Avengers. Due to Harris' coverage, the Rampage defensive line posted 4.0 sacks and the team also posted a franchise-tying four turnovers forced. The 1998 Defensive Player of the Year leads the Rampage and is among the AFL leaders in tackles (25.0), interceptions (two) and pass breakups (six).
Harris becomes just the third Rampage player in team history to be named ADT Defensive Player of the Week (Mark Ricks, 4/10/04 and Damon Mason, 5/15/05 were the previous two).
The Rampage host the San Jose SaberCats this Sunday on Centennial Wireless Field at Van Andel Arena. Grand Rapids has won three of its last four home games and four of the last seven games overall.
