
Burley, Floyd and Samuels named players of the week by Arenafan Online

For their performances during the third week of the Arena Football League 2006 season, Siaha Burley (OS, Utah Blaze), Rashad Floyd (WR/DB, Colorado Crush) and Lawrence Samuels (WR/LB, Tampa Bay Storm) have been named Offensive Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week, and Two-Way Player of the Week, respectively, by the writers and staff of ArenaFan Online.
Offensive Player of the Week: Siaha Burley scored six touchdowns on 16 receptions in the Utah Blaze's 84-81 loss to the New York Dragons. Burley led all receivers in Week Three with 259 yards. He also added 86 yards on five kickoff returns for a total of 345 all-purpose yards. Burley, in his sixth AFL season, was named to the AFL's All-Rookie team in 2001 with the Orlando Predators and was second team All-Arena at OS with Arizona Rattlers in 2005.
Other players considered for the ArenaFan Online Week Three Offensive Player of the Week were Aaron Garcia (New York), Joe Germaine (Utah), and C.J. Johnson (Chicago).
Defensive Player of the Week: Rashad Floyd had two interceptions for 28 yards in the Colorado Crush 65-55 victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators. Floyd added 5.5 total tackles and a pass breakup to help Colorado remain the only undefeated team in the American Conference. Floyd was named to the All-Arena second team in 2004 with the Crush.
Other players considered for the ArenaFan Online Week Three Defensive Player of the Week were Donvetis Franklin (Austin), Johnnie Harris (Grand Rapids), Andrew Layton (Dallas), Damon Mason (Austin), Kenny McEntyre (Orlando), Monty Montgomery (Nashville), and Charles Pauley (San Jose).
Two-Way Player of the Week: Lawrence Samuels had 10 receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns on offense, one interception returned 23 yards, one tackles and two assists on defense to help lead the Tampa Bay Storm to a win over the Georgia Force 61-60. In addition, Samuels also tipped a pass that resulted in an interception by teammate Lynaris Elpheage on Georgia's first offensive possession of the game. Samuels, in his 13th AFL season and 12th with the Storm, has been named to the All-Arena second team for the last three seasons and has twice been named to the AFL's All-Ironman team. He was also the only player to be named both MVP and Ironman of an ArenaBowl.
