
Rampage End Inaugural Season on Road Trip

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Rampage (4-14) will end their inaugural season on the road as they head to the East Coast to take on the Harrisburg Heat (0-16) Saturday night and the Syracuse Silver Knights (9-8) on Sunday afternoon. The Rampage played both teams earlier this season and won both matches to earn their first weekend sweep in franchise history. Cedar Rapids beat Harrisburg 12-4 on January 15 and went on to notch a thrilling 8-7 overtime victory over the Silver Knights on Saturday, January 16.
Through 18 games, the Rampage have been led by forward Hewerton Moreira (13 goals, 23 assists), who leads the team in points scored (36 points). Second-year MASL midfielder Gordy Gurson leads the Rampage in goals scored with 31 through 16 games played, seven of which have been for Cedar Rapids. Gurson's 31 goals are a fourth-best in the Major Arena Soccer League this season.
Moreira, forward Alex Megson, midfielder Sam Guernsey, and defenders Patrick Kelly and Jayme Kapinos have appeared in every Rampage game this season. Defender Alex Tozer and goalkeeper Joey Kapinos have appeared in all but one game due to suspension. In his 17 games in net, Kapinos has stopped 334 of 456 shots for a 73% save percentage.
Harrisburg has been led on the pitch by forward Val Teixeira, whom leads the Heat in points (14) and assists (7). Midfielder Tyler Witmer is second on the team in points (12), while being first in goals, having recorded eight goals in 16 games. Harrisburg has had two goals this season: Scott Krotee (194 saves; 72% save percentage) and Timothy Mehl (89 saves, 64% save percentage). Krotee has played 10 games while Mehl was been in net the other six matches. Only two players have appeared in every game for the Heat this season: Witmet and defender Bradley Kerstetter.
The playoff-bound Syracuse squad will take the pitch being led by Kenardo Forbes (24 points; 9 goals, 15 assists) and Jerjer Gibson (20 points; 14 goals, 6 assists). Forbes leads the team in assists while Gibson leads the team in goals scored. Silver Knights' goalkeeper Bryan OQuinn has stopped 222 of 284 shots for a 78% save percentage. Syracuse has secured a playoff spot and is in a battle for a second-place finish in the MASL Eastern Division against the Waza Flo from Flint, MI.
