
Rampage Assign Boikov, Simpson to Eagles, Lieuwen

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Wednesday that defenseman Sergei Boikov and goaltender Kent Simpson have been assigned to the Eagles by the team's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, while goaltender Nathan Lieuwen has been recalled to San Antonio.
Boikov was a sixth round selection of the Colorado Avalanche in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and has appeared in seven games this season with the Rampage, posting two assists and 10 penalty minutes while posting a plus/minus rating of +2. Boikov also appeared in four AHL contests with San Antonio during the 2015-16 season.
A 6-foot-2, 195-pound blueliner, Boikov captured a silver medal with Team Russia in the 2016 World Junior Championships and recently concluded a three-year career in the QMJHL with the Drummondville Voltigeurs. In 184 QMJHL contests, the Khabarovsk, Russia native posted 11 goals, 48 assists, 226 penalty minutes and finished with a cumulative plus/minus rating of +22.
Simpson has posted a 2-1 record this season with the Eagles, while registering a 2.01 goals-against average and a.933 save-percentage. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound goaltender is a former second round draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Draft. The Edmonton, Alberta native has appeared in 49 games in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs, Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Adirondack Thunder. He also played in one NHL game with the Blackhawks during the 2013-14 campaign.
Lieuwen has compiled a record of 1-0-1-1 after appearing in four games with the Eagles this season. Through 218 minutes of play he has generated a 3.86 goals-against average and a .836 save-percentage.
The Eagles return home to face the Reading Royals in the first ever meeting between the two clubs on Wednesday, November 2nd at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center.
