Ramón Ramírez announces retirement from soccer

CARSON, Calif. - Legendary Mexican midfielder Ramón Ramírez, Chivas USA's original captain and the fourth most capped player in Mexican National Team history, today officially announced the end of his storied playing career. The announcement was made by Ramírez before national and international media in a press conference at The Home Depot Center prior to Chivas USA's match against FC Dallas, alongside Chivas USA President and Co-Owner Antonio Cué and Club Deportivo Guadalajara's Vice President of Soccer, Néstor de la Torre.

Also present in the press conference were team officials and former teammates from both Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara, including Club Deportivo Guadalajara Director of Youth Development Efraín Flores and Team Administrator Mariano Varela; Chivas USA coaches past and present Bob Bradley, Martín Vásquez and Preki; Chivas USA players including Jorge Barrera, Orlando Pérez, Brad Guzan, Sacha Kljestan, Jesse Marsch, Francisco Mendoza, Jason Hernández and Preston Burpo; and Chivas USA technical staff members Kevin Esparza, Josh Beaumont and Humberto Macías 'Tolán'.
