Ramirez Activated from DL, Marquez Transferred to Staten Island

CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Saturday that Charleston RiverDogs right-handed pitcher Jose A. Ramirez has been activated from the DL, and right-handed pitcher Dickson Marquez has been transferred to Short Season Staten Island.

Ramirez, a Yaguate, Dominican Republic native, started 13 games for the RiverDogs this season, posting a 2-4 record with a 3.44 ERA, giving up 61 hits, 27 earned runs with 23 walks and 65 strikeouts in a total of 70.2 innings on the mound. The 20-year-old hurler was rated as the No. 20 prospect in the Yankees organization prior to the 2010 season by Baseball America. Ramirez will be starting tonight's contest vs. the Greenville Drive, the Single A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

Marquez, a San Cristobal, Dominican Republic native, has posted a 0-3 record in 13 appearances this season with the RiverDogs. The 6'2" hurler surrendered 23 hits and 16 earned runs, with nine walks, eight K and one save in a total of 16.1 innings of work.
