SALISBURY, MD -- The BlueClaws fell behind 7-0 early Saturday night and couldn't recover, falling 7-4 to the Delmarva Shorebirds.
BlueClaws (2-1) pitching phenom Jarred Cosart (7-3) took his second loss in a row, letting up three runs and getting chased after recording just two outs.
The Birds (1-2) added one run in the 2nd, and three more in the 4th to build a 7-0 lead.
The BlueClaws came back to make a game of it late. A two-run single by Sebastian Valle cut the deficit to five in the 6th, and a Jiwan James sac-fly RBI and an Alan Schoeberger RBI single made it 7-4.
Shorebirds starter Kenny Moreland let up six runs the last time he faced the Claws, but dominated Lakewood on Saturday. Moreland allowed just two runs in 5 2/3 innings, striking out nine.
At one point early in the game he struck out six BlueClaws in a row.
Sunday at 5:05 pm Lakewood LHP Matt Way (6-4, 3.49) will take on Delmarva RHP Jesse Beal (5-3, 3.68).
