Rainmen Comeback Falls Short against Island Storm
January 15, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Halifax Rainmen News Release
Despite a strong first quarter start the Halifax Rainmen were unable to keep the momentum going for all four quarters, falling 114-104 to the Island Storm Thursday night. With the loss the Rainmen's record moves to 8-10 on the season.
Halifax stormed out of the gate to start the game, enjoying as much as a nine point lead, 22-13, midway through the first quarter and held off a Storm surge to finish the first 12 minutes up 31-28. The Storm pressed the action and would take the lead early in the second frame, holding onto it throughout the game. The game remained close until the Island Storm opened up an 18 point lead in the fourth quarter.
With time running out Halifax's shooters were able to close the gap to within six, receiving several crucial three pointers from newest addition Forrest Fisher. The gap would prove to be too much to overcome though as the Storm capitalized on late turnovers to seal the game.
Cliff Clinkscales and Forrest Fisher had 18 points each to lead all Rainmen on Thursday night. Emmanuel Jones had 17 points. Tyrone Watson had 8 rebounds for Halifax. Brandon Robinson had 25 points for the Storm, and Nick Evans pulled down 8 rebounds to lead all Island players.
The Halifax Rainmen will be back in action inside Scotiabank Centre on Sunday January 18th against the Island Storm. Tip Off time is 2pm with tickets still available for purchase through the Scotiabank Centre Box Office, Ticket Atlantic or by visiting www.rainmenbasketball.ca.
