Rainiers Announce 2005 Schedule

(Tacoma, WA) – The Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners announced their home schedule for the 2005 Pacific Coast League season today. Tacoma's home opener will be Friday, April 15 at Cheney Stadium against the Fresno Grizzlies. The Rainiers open the season on the road in Fresno on Thursday, April 7.

The Rainiers 72-game, home schedule features 32 weekend dates. Tacoma will be at home on July 3rd for the club's annual fireworks extravaganza. In addition to the July 3rd game, the Rainiers promotional schedule will feature twelve Friday Night Fireworks Shows.

Season tickets and Premier Flex Plans for the 2005 season are on sale now at the Rainiers ticket office. Mini-plans and coupon books are also on sale on now. Single-game tickets will be available for sale on Tuesday, March 1. Game times will be released at a later date.

The Pacific Coast League will play a 144-game, unbalanced schedule this season. Tacoma will play 16 games against each team in the Northern Division and Southern Division, eight at home and eight on the road. The Northern Division is comprised of Colorado Springs, Portland, Salt Lake and Tacoma and the Southern Division features Fresno, Las Vegas, Sacramento and Tucson.

Tacoma will host a four-game series versus each club in the Eastern Division (Iowa, Omaha, Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, Oklahoma) and will travel to play in a four-game series against each club in the Central Division (Albuquerque, Oklahoma, New Orleans and Round Rock). The PCL welcomes Round Rock into the league in 2005. Round Rock is located near Austin, Texas and is co-owned by Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan. Round Rock purchased the Edmonton Trappers franchise prior to last season.

The Triple-A All-Star Game will be played in Sacramento on Wednesday, July 13. The complete schedule with game times and promotional dates for the 2005 schedule will be announced on later dates.
