Northwoods Rochester Honkers

Rain Halts Series Finale in Brainerd

July 1, 2011 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Rochester Honkers News Release

(Rochester, MN)-The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club was scheduled to finish up their set of five consecutive games against the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers today, but Mother Nature had different plans. Inclement weather hit the Brainerd Lakes area, causing the game to first get delayed an hour, before eventually postponing it until the second half of the season.

The Northwoods League has been tormented all season long by rain and other bad weather, causing many teams to lose games in the first half. The Honkers have not been an exception, postponing, or suspending parts of five series the Honkers have played thus far in the early season. The game is expected to be made up the next time the Honkers travel to Brainerd, on August 8, 2011, following an off day. The game will be made up in a double header, of seven inning games, with the time to be determined.

The Honkers will now have extra time to return home, before a two-game home series against the Mankato MoonDogs, starting tomorrow, Saturday, July 2, at 7:05pm. The two teams will have a quick turnaround the next day, playing a 1:05pm game at Mayo Field on Sunday, July 3. The Honkers will then travel to Alexandria to spend their Fourth of July.
