Knoxville Smokies News Release
JACKSON, Miss. - Torrential rain wiped out any plans the Smokies and Braves had of playing Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park. For Tennessee, it is the fifth rainout in six days.
Tennessee (12-10) will attempt a doubleheader against Mississippi (11-14) on Thursday night. The first of two seven inning contests will begin at 7 p.m. eastern with 30 minutes between games. The Smokies' Casey Coleman (3-1) is expected to start game one opposite the Braves' Jonny Venters (1-1). Game 2 will feature right-hander Jay Jackson (1-3) against a former Tennessee Volunteer, Deunte Heath (1-0).
Tennessee returns to Smokies Park on Monday to face the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx. The Jaxx are the AA-affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. The homestand will last May 11-15. Tickets can be purchased by calling (865) 286-2300 or by visiting smokiesbaseball.com.
