Infielder Bryan Byrne has been promoted to Triple-A Reno, leaving the BayBears with 23 active players. Byrne was the BayBears Offensive Player of the Year in 2008 after batting .303 with 9 home runs and 54 RBI. He led the squad with a .405 OBP. Byrne started off the '09 season in similar fashion with a .279 average, 1 homer and 15 knocked in through his first 23 games. He also put together a .440 OBP. In addition, Byrne has been very solid defensively as a BayBear, providing a vacuum for low throws around the bag. He has yet to commit an error this season while making only 10 a year ago.
