SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, added P Todd Blackford to the active roster Tuesday. In a related roster move, P Vince Perkins has been promoted to Class AAA Iowa.

Blackford began the season on the disabled list and will be seeing his first action of the 2009 season with the Smokies. Blackford appeared in 35 games last year, all in relief, posting an 8-1 record and a 2.46 ERA, while striking out 37 and walking 28. The Cubs acquired Blackford on August 29, 2005 from the Atlanta Braves (along with P Angelo Burrows) for OF Todd Hollandsworth.
