Rain Cuts Game Short, D-Braves Take Win in Six

Danville Otterbots News Release

DANVILLE, VA - A rain shortened game four ended in the top of the sixth with Danville ahead 5-2, going down in the books as a completed game and a big Danville victory, their fourth straight.

Ozzy Albies made a big impact on this one, as he has often done since his call up. The electrifying shortstop went 2-3 with a double and two RBI. Albies' double busted this one open for Danville, coming in the fourth inning, and as all D-Braves runs on the evening did, with two out. Albies ripped a double to left field scoring Jose Morel and Yeudi Grullon to make it a 5-1 game in Danville's favor.

Matt Tellor also got his bat going after a tough 0-6 performance yesterday in Burlington. Tellor struck out in his first at bat, but managed to crush a double to left center that cleared the bases for the first three Danville runs. Tellor has now driven in 22 runs on the season in 27 games with the D-Braves.

It looked like it might get out of hand in the first inning, as Andry Ubiera struggled to locate the strike zone early. Ubiera would settle down after giving up one run on an Amalani Fukofuka triple in the second at bat of the game after a leadoff walk. Ubiera settled down and went 5.0 of the six innings played, giving up the one run, three hits, and two walks, while striking out five Burlington batters.

Danville (32-22) will hold on to first place for now with the win, and will finish a five game series with Burlington (22-32) tomorrow night at American Legion Post 325 Field. Tomorrow will be Shine the Light on Lung Cancer night at the ballpark, and the first 200 fans who arrive will receive a free Centra Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center T-shirt. There will also be a silent auction for fans to bid on game worn D-Braves jerseys, and all proceeds will go to benefit the Danville Cancer Association. The first pitch for tomorrow's contest will be at 7:00 p.m.
