Railroaders Fall as RailCats Clinch Series

GARY, Indiana - Levi Scott doubled and scored, but Cleburne was held to one run for the second consecutive game in a 8-1 loss to the Gary SouthShore RailCats at U.S. Steel Yard on Wednesday afternoon.

Scott's double led off the 5th inning, and after a sacrifice bunt he scored from third on an RBI groundout from Cam Monger.

Cleburne starter Dylan Mouzakes gave up three runs on six hits over 3.2 innings, and the RailCats took the lead on a two-run single from Garrett Copeland in the 2nd inning. Gary SouthShore added to the lead with a Cole Fabio RBI single in the 4th.

Will Mathis surrendered four runs over two relief innings - all in a five-run RailCat 6th. In the inning, five 'Cats scored on five hits. In the frame, Cole Fabio, Andy DeJesus, Randy Santiesteban and Colin Willis all collected RBIs.

Michael Pair singled in his first game back in the lineup since May 31st, and Alex Polston also singled to snap an 0-for-15 stretch.

LHP Alex Gunn tossed seven innings and gave up just one run on three hits while the RailCats bullpen anchored with two scoreless frames.

The Railroaders and RailCats wrap up the three-game series at 7:10 p.m. Thursday night. RHP Patrick Mincey will throw for Cleburne, while LHP Lars Liguori will pitch for the RailCats.

Cleburne returns home to open a seven-game homestand against the Sioux Falls Canaries on Tuesday, June 26.
