RailRiders Take Down Adirondack

The RailRiders improved to 2-0 on this young season by defeating the Adirondack TrailBlazers 6-3. With the loss, Adirondack falls to 2-3.

Victor opened up the scoring in this one in the 2nd inning. Drew Kissel drew a walk and then advanced to third after a failed pickoff attempt sailed into foul territory behind first. Nate Ricci then came through with a 2 out RBI single to put the RailRiders on the board.

Adirondack answered in the top of the 4th with 3 runs of their own. The TrailBlazers started the inning with 3 straight singles to load the bases for Chris Kwitzer, who laced a 2 RBI double. Adirondack was able to push across what would be their 3rd and final run of the game before a double play ended the inning.

Victor tied the game in the 6th with the help of 3 straight hits from Kissel, Acker, and Ricci, the last being an RBI single. Acker later scored on a Chris Lehane groundout to tie the game at 3.

The RailRiders scored 3 more runs in the bottom of the very next inning. Nick Boland, Brock Daniels, and Kissel all reached base to start the inning, and all players later came in to score.

Eoin McAvinchey started for the RailRiders, cruising through 3 innings before hitting a slight snag in the 4th. He left the game after pitching 4.0 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, 1 walk and 5 K's.

Joe DeAngelis pitched well coming out of the bullpen, going 3.0 innings while allowing just 1 hit and getting 5 strikeouts. Austin Wilson and Chris Kemp pitched the final 2 innings for the Riders. Neither of them allowed a hit, and Kemp was able to lock down the save.

Stephan Himic was tagged with the loss for the TrailBlazers after allowing 5 runs in 3.0 innings. Garrett Longhurst went 2-4 with an RBI.

Drew Kissel was 1-3 with 3 runs scored, while Nate Ricci was 3-4 with 2 RBI.

The RailRiders will travel to Utica on Sunday to take on the Brewers. Start time is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
