RailRiders Start Strong in Home Opener

June 6, 2015 - Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL)
Victor RailRiders News Release

In their first ever game at Victor High School, the RailRiders took on the Utica Brewers on Friday night. The Riders took a 4-0 lead into the 7th, but the game was delayed due to lightning in the area. Darkness caused the game to be suspended for the remainder of the evening.

The game will resume in the bottom of the 7th, with the RailRiders up to bat. The date and time of the continuation is TBD.

Tommy Wagner got the Riders their first hit of the game in the third, which was immediately followed up by a sac fly from Matt Fallon to score Dylan Sweatman for the first run of the game.

The Riders struck again in the 4th when a throwing error by the pitcher allowed Brock Daniels to score. Pete Carrier then grounded out to bring in Dale Wickham and make the score 3-0.

Victor then scored their fourth run of the game in the bottom of the 6th, when Victor native Carrier, brought in fellow Victor native Wickham, who had walked and stole second earlier in the inning.

Mitch Patishall, from the University of Cincinnati, looked great in his first start of the year. He allowed just one hit and zero runs over 5 innings of work with 6 K's.

Jesse Bogacz picked up right where Patichall left off, pitching the final 2 innings of the day. Bogacz (Kenyon College) allowed just one base runner and struck out 4 Brewers before lightning caused the game to come to a screeching halt.

The RailRiders will play at home again on Saturday when they take on the Adirondack Trailblazers (2-2). First pitch is set for 3:00PM.
