
Victor Beats Saugerties, 7-1 on Friday Night

In a game that saw very nearly as many errors as runs, the RailRiders were able to come out on top, beating the Stallions by a score of 7 to 1. The Stallions made 5 of the 7 errors that occurred throughout the contest and Victor made the most of them, scoring a pair of unearned runs.
Peter Lannoo (Cornell University) pitched a gem for the Riders, going 8.0 innings while striking out 4 and giving up just 5 hits and 1 unearned run.
Chris Kemp (Indiana University South East) closed out the game with a scoreless 9th and struck out 1.
It took a few innings, but he Stallions were able to strike first in this contest. In the top of the 4th, after a leadoff double, a groundball back to Lannoo was thrown into right field, allowing Nick Russo (University of New Haven) to score and give the Stallions the 1 run lead.
Victor answered quickly with 3 runs in the bottom of that same inning. After back-to-back singles to start the inning, Dale Wickham Cornell University) hit a 2 RBI double to put the RailRiders in the lead. Wickham would later move to the third and score on an Evan Fernandez (Jacksonville University) groundout.
Victor would add 3 more in the 7th and 1 in the 8th to defeat the Stallions 7-1.
Tommy Wagner (Cornell University) and Fernandez each had 2 hits, an RBI, and a run scored, while Wickham added a hit, a run, and 2 RBI in the victory.
With the win, Victor clinches a spot in the PGCBL Playoffs, which will begin on July 31st.
