
RailHawks tie Silverbacks in Season Opener 1-1

Atlanta, GA - The Carolina RailHawks tied the Atlanta Silverbacks 1-1 in their season opener at Silverback Stadium on Saturday night with goals by RailHawks midfielder Steven Curfman and Silverbacks forward Jerson Monteiro. Carolina's goal came in the 49th minute when Curfman took a free kick from the 18 yard line that went over the wall and into the back of the net. Atlanta's Monteiro responded in the 72nd minute when he received a ball from Mac Kandji and found a way through the RailHawks defense to beat goalkeeper Chris McClellan.
The RailHawks now return to Cary for their home opener on Saturday, April 26th at 7:30 PM at WakeMed Soccer Park as the host the Charleston Battery. The match will most likely see the return of defenders Joey Worthen and David Stokes, to the starting lineup, who were not available in Atlanta due to card suspension.
